Novumed launches the Biotech Finder

Munich, 1. September 2004 - The Munich based strategy consulting firm for the life science industry, Novumed GmbH, announces the release of its industry search engine, the Novumed Biotech Finder. This new tool allows a detailed overview of almost 700 biotechnology companies in Germany and Switzerland.

The online tool has been developed for large pharmaceutical companies, venture capital firms and biotech firms to assist them in identifying potential partners for cooperative ventures or investment targets. The Biotech Finder is based on a complex database which allows a fairly deep technological segmentation of the analyzed biotech firms. There are three main areas of selection available to identify a certain firm. The user may select by technology with four filters (end market, purpose, technology cluster and technology detail), he may identify a company based on their type of projects (by clinical indication or stage of development) or he may do a simple request based on general company data (number of employees, location, founding year).

Compared to other search engines, the Biotech Finder provides a higher level of detail and allows a free neutralized preview (without company names) for a first overview. The service will only be charged for when requesting names and addresses of the identified companies. The tool is easily accessible on the company?s website (www.novumed.com) and allows a search to be carried out with only a few mouse clicks. "We identified the need to develop a detailed search engine when working closely with venture capital firms and pharmaceutical companies" says Dr. Leewe , General Manager at Novumed. "They were often looking for complementary technologies or investment targets, but did not have a full and easy-to-use transparent view of the market.
